Show local Grid Coordinates in an Alignment Table

Hi everyone,

I am trying to find out if there is a way to show the user defined local grid coordinates for the start and end northing/easting of an alignment in an alignment table. I know I have the transformation set up correctly because I can use the grid northing/easting in a point table etc.

So far, the only choices I have in an alignment table is to show start and end northing/easting based on the actual coordinate system that the drawing is set up in, not the local grid.

Thanks in Advanve

Hi @rlheath117,

Please see the image below.

I believe you have a good start on setting up your C3D dwg for "local" coordinates, but you need to add the "known" LA State Plane-South coordinates for the corresponding "Local" Base and Rotation points to have C3D correctly calculate the "GRID" (or LA SPC, South) coordinates.

Once you have this set up, your Alignment Start and End points will reference the "Local" northing and eastings.  However, I don't see an option to add the "Grid" Northing and Easting to the alignment label options unfortunately.  You may want to try Property Sets or just create cogo points at the ends of your alignment and look at each cogo point in the Properties window to view the calculated "GRID" coordinates and hard code them into the alignment label as a text override.  This won't be dynamic though.  Hopefully Property Sets will give you the option.

I hope this helps.

I was thinking if you just created Cogo points at the alignment start and end, you could create a custom point label style that adds in the Local Northing, Local Easting, Grid Northing, and Grid Easting to the point label via the point label composer. Then if you move your alignment, you just have to move the Cogo points to the new start and end of the alignment.

This will at least keep some dynamic functionality (with respect to the label data)...There is no way to pin the Cogo point to the alignment ends though.

I hope this helps.
