Sheet Set Manager, Custom Properties Question

Anonymous

C3D 2019, 2020

In SSM i am wondering what I should set as the owner of certain custom properties, namely TotalSheets which is the total number of sheets in the set.

I have had it set to the Sheet being the owner. However, if I add a sheet I have to go into the properties of every sheet and edit its custom property, TotalSheets.

If i set the owner to Sheet Set will it update automatically upon editing the custom property at the highest level, i.e., the properties of the sheet set (name)?

thanks

I have mine at the sheet set level, after all that is where it general belongs. I do have occasions where I need a different sheet count for different sheet groupings, since we cant associated custom fields to subset, I attach them to the overall sheet set also and have to modify the field for the individual sheets (copy and paste the first one to all remaining for speed)

Yeah, it is kind of a pain to have to edit the properties of every sheet.

"SheetSet" = GLOBAL

"Sheet"= LOCAL

Think of it that way

Custom property of the Sheet Set. Edit once and done.

I don't know if you can make it dynamic to the total in the set since a set can have any number of subsets. How would it know which sheets should be in the total? Like others suggest, just add a field to the set and manually update it as sheets are added or removed.

P.S. I guess it would make sense to have it dynamic if you always include all the sheets in a set. Sometimes I have subsets that I use for in house review that are not included in submittals (i.e.. cross sections).

Just for the sake of the topic, is there a total sheets property in a sheet set?

I agree with @MMcCall402 .

@Neilw_05, If you want to number sheet subsets individually and add subset total sheets you will need a Sheet Set Custom property for each subset. To make this automatic, each subset will need to use a different sheet template that refers to the correct subset total custom property.
