Sections in Section Views disappearing, losing dynamic links, and plot layout changes on its own

Civil 3D 2018

Design Model Drawing contains: Corridor and EG Surface

Cross Section Drawing contains: XREF ATTACHMENT of Corridor and DREF of EG Surface

I finished laying out my section views and am satisfied with how it appears. Save and Close out. Then I open the cross section drawing again and my corridor is missing half the geometry.

I then check my sampled sources and see that the corridor is no longer being sampled. So I sample it again.

Not sure what is up with the having three different corridors in available sources. I chose to sample "LINE PR-B_CORRIDOR_STG-1" only because the name is simpler. I have no idea what is up with "Corridor - 1 (2) (3) (1) (1)..." that tells me there must be a circular reference or something. I have no idea why there is a source with the double name either. But I've always chosen "LINE PR-B_CORRIDOR_STG-1"

I add the corridor to be sampled again, and everything appears the way I want it to.XSissue5.png

But I hover over my corridor and surface and realize I have 5 items on top of each other. It still retains the outdated sections, and calls them Dynamic, but there is no data source, therefore I assume the corridor and surface sections are static and can be deleted.

Well if my sampled sources worked properly, I wouldn't have to worry about this. Since they are not I figure I just need to delete all the old sections that have no sources. Civil3D does not let you delete all the old sections easily. If I want to get rid of them, I would have to delete them manually in each and every section view. That would be a nightmare. And on a side note, what is very frustrating, is how the sheets and sections views get laid out.

Everything is how I want it. 3 section views per page. But sometimes my layout suddenly only fits 1 or 2 section views per page and I have to play around with the style to get it back the way it was.

GOOD:

BAD:

My three issues are:

1) How do I keep the corridor and surfaces from losing their link, where I have to remove and re-add the sampled sources?

2) If I need to delete the old sections that have 5 sections on top of each other, can I delete all them without having to go through all 58 sections and deleting them manually?

3) I don't know exactly is causing my sheets to decide to fit only 1 or 2 section views per sheet, when 3 fitted fine. Sometimes toggling the buffer space on fixes it, and sometimes toggling it back off fixes it as well.

Help please.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hello @Anonymous ,

On question 1, I have seen many times where the user does not realize that his Civil 3D objects remain "selected" after running some other command that uses the object. For example, select a TINSurface, go to Surface Properties, Information tab. Change the Surface Style. OK out of the dialog. The TINSurface is still selected in AutoCAD. If you now select something to delete, that object/entity gets added to a selection set with the TINSurface. You delete them both.

Question 2, use the Prospector tab of the Civil 3D Toolspace to drill down to your section objects. Start with the alignment and go down to Sections. You can use the interface to delete sections. Right click on the sampled source and there will be a Delete option.

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you reproduce the issue in the Civil 3D 2020?
