From the Section View Properties Help
Type
Displays the type of data source from which the section data was extracted. Either
, which indicates from an existing TIN surface;
, which indicates from a corridor;
, which indicates from a corridor surface; or
, which indicates from an existing pipe network or pressure network.
This from my Section Properties dialog box: Notice they are not like any of the icons shown above in the help menu. My section view has two surfaces, both are DS'd an EG & FG. What is my Type icon telling me when it does not match the Help?
