Roman S Text Font Displays as a Different Font (Not Sure What the other font is.)

Hello Everyone,

I upgraded to Civil 2025 recently, and noticed that my Roman S font started showing up as a different font. The Roman S font is a thin line style that prints to the thickness of the layer you are using for annotation. I have remapped my font map. I have checked the font folder to make sure roman s is in the correct locations. I have tried changing the font in the dwg, saving and closing, reopen, and change it back. I have tried every trouble shooting thing I can think of. Has anyone else run into this as well? Does anyone know of a solution that works?

As Always, thank you for your time and have a great day.

Show us what you see please (not sure why you did not).

How do you know the font name you found in the folder is the font you expect please?
How do you know you looked in the correct folder being used by your C3D session?
You never mention opening STYLE command to check settings: did you?

I wonder if you just need to turn off GFXDX12 variable first, restart your program (don't skip this), then test.

Roman S is a standard Font that comes with Civil 3D. The Image that follows shows what it is supposed to look like.

With the update to C3D 2025, it changed the Font so that it appears as it does in the next image.

Also, it looks like this issue effects drawings I open in 2025. If the drawing was saved with 2023 and them opened in 2025, the text is fine until I regenerate the Model. As soon as I regen or save and reopen, the text changes.

I have Looked under the following Locations on my PDF to find trouble shoot possible causes.

  • C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2025\enu.
  • C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2025\enu
  • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2025\Fonts

I have also checked both the Font Style and the text font in my properties panel, where both are set to the romans.shx for the font file being referenced.

And my last check was to make sure the File Paths in the "Files" tab of the Options Window were mapped to the correct location, and it was. So I took the "romans.shx" file out of the 2025 Font folder and copied the file from the 2023 folder back into it. Same Resalts. The font displayed as Image 2 rather then Image 1.

Is that enough info for you?

Follow up on text issues. There was an update that released at the beginning of the week (8/18/24) that fixed the problem. After Updating, I went into the drawings that were effected, re-established the text font by changing it to another font and then changing it back. Then regenerated the drawing to fix the rest of the text items.
