Revert layer colors from original template dwt.

All my layer colors in a drawing got set to one single color then saved. *.bak file is no good same color settings. Is there an easy way to revert my dwg colors from my template layer color settings? I tried opening the design center and dragging the layers from the template into this one-layer color drawing, but it only sets the layer names. I'm afraid I'm going to have to do this one layer at a time and there are many.

Try setting your template for as a Reference Template. Edit the settings to only reference layers. Update and then remove the reference.

Whoa...:) while this sounds great I have no idea how to proceed. Reference template? The orig dwt file. Xref it in as a dwg? I'm not following you. How do you set a template as a reference?

On the Manage tab there is a button for "Reference".  Its a manager that allows you to select a sort-of master template file to use for styles, layers, text, etc.  You can select what you want to sync with the selected reference file.  You can leave it attached to stay in sync with the reference or detach it once you get what you want.

This is a great suggestion. Another option you have is to open your Template file and export the layer state to a file. You can then update any file by loading that saved layer state.

I’d go layer state too. No slam on reference template but it was a disaster for me.

worst part was disconnecting from ref template ever c3d style was removed. Maybe if all you do is set it to layers it would be ok… however, special layer states per drawing may constantly revert… guessing

The layer state is one of the first thigs I tried too but it did not work. Maybe I did something wrong in the process. By the time I read some of the options here I had to manually set everything back to default. I'll keep this for another time this happens again....and it will.
