Renaming alignment fouls up Dref pipe networks

@Jeff_M - is this still an issue ? (Using C3D 2015, all SP)

Quick summary:

1. Start a new drawing, create an alignment and pipe network.

2. Save this drawing as "MAIN", create data shortcuts to alignment and pipe network.

3. Start another new drawing. SaveAs "CHILD", dref in alignment and pipe network.

4. Create a pipe table with station offset calls.

5. Save and Close "CHILD" drawing.

6. Back in "MAIN", rename the alignment.

7. Open "CHILD" and you'll get prompted about the name change. Choose "Update the Reference Name"

8. Go back to "MAIN" and make a change to the pipe network.

9. Go back to "CHILD" and Sync the changes.

10. The station/offset calls in the table are now "????????????" because the alignment reference on the pipes is set to <none>

You can set the alignment reference on all the pipes in "CHILD" and everything works, UNTIL you Sync again. Then the alignment reference is replaced with <none>

Thanks.

Greeting,

You are correct, this is persists inside AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015; however, if you follow the steps below you can prevent this issue from occuring. I made modifications to step 6 and with the goal of avoiding step 10.

  • Open Pipe Network Properties Dialog Box
  • Set Reference Alignment to <None>
  • Press Apply (Not OK)
  • Reset Reference Alignment to the renamed Alignment
  • Select OK
  • Validate Data Shortcuts
  • Save Drawing

7. Open "CHILD" and you'll get prompted about the name change. Choose "Update the Reference Name"

8. Go back to "MAIN" and make a change to the pipe network.

9. Go back to "CHILD" and Sync the changes.

  • The Station/Offset labels should appear as desired.

10. The station/offset calls in the table are now "????????????" because the alignment reference on the pipes is set to <none>

Please let me know if this workflow helps resolve your situation. Thank you contacting Autodesk Support!

I think in step 6b, you mean "Reference Alignment" instead of "Reference Network"?

Anyway, I get the same results when I sync in step 9. The stations in the table revert to "???????"

Thank you.
