Receiving the values of the colored map instead of the colors

Dear

I created a colored map using the “Tin Volume Surface” by comparing two different surfaces in the z direction. At this step, I want to know that if there could be a possibility that I choose some ID points (coordinates) by selecting by myself on either the colored map or the TIN created surfaces and receive their values differences in the z direction instead of the colored map? I mean I need the values of the colored map instead of the colored map, is it possible?

Thanks for your response,

Sincerely

Amir Farshadfar

Hi Amir,
More details please. A screen shot or two showing what you'd like to do would be helpful.

I haven't tried this but it might work.

If you create a polyline with nodes at the places you want the elevations you could create a featureline from that PL and get its elevation from the Volume Surface. Then in Create Points there might be a way to generate Cogo Points at the nodes of the featureline. Or you could manually set points with OSNAPZ set to zero.

Would labeling the elevation of the Tin Volume Surface give you what you want?

The elevation of a volume surface is the vertical difference between the two surfaces at that point. If you're looking to get the cut/fill depth for a spot, then you can simply place a spot elevation label on the volume surface at that point.
