Hi.
I have done a copy of "Concrete Rectangular Box Culvert Headwall SI" structure. This structure is located in the "Metric Structure Catalog" (or Imperial Structure Catalog, don´t mind).
In this copy I have added a new parameter called "Wing Clearance (from Top Structure)" because currently that part has 2 wings which rise to the top of the vertical wall (back wall).
If "Wing Clearance" is 0 then is the same result that the current part.
However the dev team of Autodesk decided to start this part (piece) with a Work Plane which is the middle of the vertical wall in Top view.
This way, they did 2 new Work Planes with Offset from this first WP to get the back and the front of this vertical wall.
There is a parameter to add the thickness of this vertical wall.
"AutoLayout Data" (Placement point) is located precisely in this first WP on the top: (see solid circle in the middle of the image)
Although I can re-place the point to put it in another WP (in this case would be the front plane of the vertical wall) it does not make sense because the position of that point is not referenced by parameters (it does not take into account the parameter "vertical wall thickness /2")
So an improvement I ask for Autodesk is we were able to locate "Placement Point" like project point from a WP, using parameters, etc.. OR anchor that placement point to a Geometry point.
Now I am forced to re-build this piece (part) to create the vertical wall just with 2 WP for this vertical wall. (the first WP will be the front of the vertical wall, because I want the "Placement Point" there. I want that pipe start/end in that plane, not in the middle of the vertical wall....
I found out that this "Placement Point" is not only an attachment point to locate the structure but also to start/end the pipe. And the elevation of the Placement Point will be the top (outer)of the pipe in that connection with the structure.
So my question is:
Is there any way to tell to the pipe that its Z must be according to a vertical offset from the Placement Point?
I would like to have that "vertical offset" as a Parameter.
In fact the dev team of Autodesk added the parameter "SVPC" (description: Vertical Pipe Clearance), but that parameter don´t participate at any time in the calculations to build this structure. It´s a FAKE parameter.
Thanks in advance.
