Publishing Section Views to PDF Different than Screen and Individual PDF's

I am publishing some section views and sometimes, a section here and there on a page once in awhile, will publish as if it shifted or gets cut off. BUT on my screen and in a single PDF plot, the section looks or prints fine. Attached are the PDF examples and a capture of what the screen view is. I am currently running 2018, but this happened to me as well on 2016, with the only solution at the 11th hour to be plotting them individually. The sections are live in the sheets getting published. Nothing else is totally abnormal. What could be the issue?

Thank you for contacting Autodesk Technical Support. I am Nilesh and I will be helping you with this case. I am sorry to know that you are having difficulty using Civil 3D.
To better understand the issue, I will appreciate if you can provide me the following information.
1.Does this happen with specific user or multiple users?
2.Does this happen on specific file or multiple files?
3.Have you installed all the updates for CIVIL 3D?

4.Have you installed latest graphics drivers?

I will appreciate if you can please share the file with me so that I can try it at my end.

Thanks,

Attached are the 2 CAD files and another test plot showing on page 2 the discrepancy.

Thank you for providing the required information.

This typically happens when older drawing is opened in new release. This is just a result of changed algorithm. The workaround is open the drawing file with recover. Here is the article that might be helpful to resolve this issue.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best Regards,

Nilesh

I have done the steps for RECOVER, -PURGEs, AUDIT & -WBLOCK options per the article. None of these have helped so far. I even RECOVERED the source Corridor file. I thought -Wblock fixed it but the it lost references to the corridor and once re-referenced again, same problem reappeared. I have even XREF'd a copy of the same file into the problem drawing. Visually, I can see the sections that changed or print wrong since the xref has the correct section views, but the print of both the sections and xref produce the incorrect version.

Also, this file was created in 2018. It was not created in 2016 and opened with 2018 but it was created using a 2016 legacy template that has been currently saved with 2018.

Thank you for the reply. I would recommend to please go ahead and try to publish the section views from tutorial file and let me know how it goes. I tried to create a new drawing using Wblock and I got same result for plot and publish.

You can follow these steps

  1. Open your drawing and type WBLOCK in command line
  2. Select Entire drawing and location where you would like this Block to be placed (desktop)
  3. Start a new Civil 3D drawing from acad.dwt (this one does not have any styles in it)
  4. Go into drawing settings and adjust scales, zones, etc.
  5. Save the drawing
  6. In command run IMPORTSTYLESANDSETTINGS command to import all your styles and settings from your old drawing template (use 16-021.017 Master Water and Sewer (West).dwg)
  7. To get your layout tabs you right-click on layout tab in the drawing and used “from Template” option to import DWT or DWG file. Choose your drawing template file. – This will insert layout tabs into your drawing
  8. Type INSERT in command line to import Block you created in step 2 and explode it while inserting it at 0,0,0 coordinate
  9. Go to Prospector tab and remove old data reference for your pipe network
  10. Create new data reference from your Data Shortcuts
  11. Run AUDIT, -PURGE, PURGE and save the drawing
  12. Save

Please find the attachment. Attached is the screenshot of the drawing and the pdf created using publish command.

I can try this from your response but your sections in the PDF and PNG now do not include the corridor information (Shapes with hatches) in the sections like the original before the WBLOCK. I had the same result as you, but as soon as I re-add the corridor information to the section views, the errors occurred again. If you were to add the corridor information back to the Section Views, does the error return for you as well?

Thank you for your feedback. Please let me know if you tried it on tutorial file yet or not. I will appreciate if you can please record a video while trying to load the corridor information back to the file created using WBLOCK command. It might possible that it is a bug. I need to collect more information regarding this issue before logging it as bug.

Thanks,

Since this is AutoCAD 2018, I am able to data reference in the corridor information rather than xref attached like 2016. In doing so, the plotting and display of the sections are no longer an issue in the same file as before.

This is still an issue in C3D 2023 or at least I've got a similar issue.  I have 60 pages of sections and I've hand adjusted the elevation settings of some views to be more visible.  They look good on screen but then print as if I've never edited them.  Extremely frustrating.
