Proxy Graphics - Extraction or Binding to a Drawing.

I have a drawing with a nested 3D piping block (assuming from Navisworks or similar) that opens as a proxy entity. I have requested a drawings output (ACAD) file of the original to make the objects accessible. In its current form, the piping blocks (shown in attached image in magenta) nested objects disappear when exploded. Is there any workaround other than waiting for the new ACAD export? I find it peculiar that one can see the objects in the piping block, but that there is no way to extract them (similar to using burst to remove attributes from text in blocks for example).

there is no work around if you do not have the vertical product that created it.
