Proposed contour lines not tying into existing contours.

Hello, I am new to Civil 3d and am designing a ditch with a 15 foot access on either side and a culvert that runs under a road. I have 2 issues; (1) My corridor runs through (on top) my road but I need the ditch to stop right before the culvert but continue around it until it gets to the road. I can split the corridor and have it stop right before the culvert, but how do I make it continue to merge up until the roadway? AD 1.PNGAD 1.PNGAD2.PNGAD2.PNG(2) Where the ditch ends, my proposed contour lines are not tying into my existing. Sorry if I am not clear, I will attach some images.

Also, when I change my assembly to just daylight instead of the 15 access on either side, the end still does not tie in.

Turn off your existing and proposed contours by changing their style to No Display. Now, create a new surface. In the Toolspace, expand your surface, then expand Definition. Right-click on Edits and choose Paste Surface. Paste the existing first, then paste the proposed.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you mean after I have put my FG and EG surfaces on no display, turn on the points and create a new surface? Also, I brought in my EG surface, which was divided into 3 by the surveyor, using x-ref. Am I to create another surface from that as well?

Existing and proposed must reside in the same drawing. You are basically creating an "empty" surface, and pasting the 2 together.
