profile structures

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a certain design for a sewer and storm structure on a profile. I've created one for the plan part but don't know how to create one for the profile part.

Does civil 3d create it's own style for the structures in the profile or can I update it or possibly create my own design.

Parts and part builder can be frustrating.

as with plan style the profile can use a block to easily display what you specifically need drafted

the Civil3d style you refer to is the actual model as defined in part builder. Defining one to some specific need beyond that defined can be a month of Sundays in part builder and ya might come up empty.

IMHO and the civil engineering plans we create are not Swiss watches and old school blocks displayed in the style works fine

This structure you've created, is it a real parametric structure part or a structure style?  (one that uses a block for plan view representation maybe?)

Hi Mark,

Image 1 is the plan settings and what would show up on the plan. I've created this block.

Image 2 is the profile settings. I didn't create any block for this. I have different projects that I would use to bring the styles I've created into and the structures in the profile in each project all look different. In one project the storm structures are wider and another project they're not.

You could use the structure style you have with the "Cylindrical Structure Slab Top Circular Frame" structure.   Yes the frame is circular, but it would look the same as a square frame in a profile.  The view from the top would be handled by the structure style using a block for that view direction.  This structure would have all relative parameters available too. (structure dia., wall, floor and slab thickness, frame height, etc)

If you were to use a block for the profile view it would be a little different than the plan view.  The plan view inserts at the center of the structure.  In profile view it inserts at the top of the structure.   The profile view also needs to be able to stretch the block as needed to accommodate various structure depths depending on the attached pipes.  For this you need to make sure the block has its setting for "Scale uniformly" set to No. (in the properties window within the block editor with no objects selected).   Note, its going to stretch the entire block.  It won't hold the geometry of the top and only stretch the bottom.  This is why I thought using a similar round structure above was a better solution.
