Print preview causes command line to stop functioning

Every time I use the PRE command, or us Ctrl+P->Preview, and then return to the drawing, the command line starts acting up. Whenever I type, it lights up as if I am typing, but no characters show up, and no commands will activate. When I stop typing, it greys back again. I have found that if I change to a different drawing (using top tabs), then all of the characters I previously typed will all be immediately execute in the console. It is almost as if all of the characters get stored to a buffer that is not triggered until I access a new drawing.  From there, I can switch back the original drawing and the command line works normally (until I print preview again).

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this?

What does ABOUT command list as your exact C3D version?
is your commandline floating or docked?
Does your commandline show your preview or something else is still running? Make it 5-10 lines tall and test to find out for sure.
Instead of clicking to another drawing then back, can you just click on the commandline to activate it?

Version is 13.2.3902.0 Civil 3D 2020.6.1 Update

command line is docked

Odd thing is that when I expanded the command line to test your 3rd point, the issue suddenly stopped occurring. I 'll mess around with it and report back if it starts happening again.
