Point Label Dragging

As shown in the appended image, when I drag a point label away from the point location and marker (yellow hatched circle in image), the label disappears (B, middle screenshot) while moving and only re-appears when the label grip is "released" in its new location (C, right screenshot).  While this may not seem to matter in the simple example shown, in situations where one is moving a cluster of point labels apart for clarity, it is very useful to be able to see the labels as one moves them, in order to be able to "release" them in readable positions.

How do I cause the point labels to remain visible while being moved?  I've checked the point styles, but I don't seem to find any setting governing this phenomenon.

Thanks for the help.

I think Civil 3D uses either the current layer or the layer that is in the Drawing Settings to draw the linework during the drag. Make sure that layer is on and thawed and see if it shows up them.

That was it.   The points layer was off.

I wondered why this only happens occasionally; now I know.

How dumb can I get?

Many thanks for the help.

I consider this a bug, I'd do a support case on Manage.Autodesk.com letting Autodesk of this unexpected behavior.
