Point Groups do not Update Automatically When New Points are Created - Why?

Every time I create new Points I feel like I'm losing my mind when I go to look at them in the Edit Points list and they are gone. Why is the end user expected to click Update each time they create new Points? Is there some CAD-typical esoteric setting that a knave like me could never possibly understand, or is this just more of that, "We stopped programming the software at this point and left error-handling up to the end user" mantra I've come to expect as an Autodesk Subscriber?
Why is the end user exposed to both Refresh and Update options here in the Right-Click dropdown? Would a user not want the current, Updated, Refreshed, version of the thing they just created? How does this make sense to anyone?
