Pipe Size Band & Pipe Crossing Data in Band

Pipe Size Band & Pipe Crossing Data in Band

Afternoon All

I wonder if there is anyone that can help me I've got two problems that I need to solve:

  1. In my band for the pipe size, it completes the pipe size between each structure (which is great). However when you have you structures too close together the data clashes. Where the pipes are the same size, is there a way of the band to only put in the one pipe size in the band and on change of size. (i.e. 150uPVC for all of the 150dia pipes and say 200uPVC if the next pipe size is in the profile)
  2. The second query is regarding the pipe crossing, I have a style for the pipe crossing so it only shows up the pipe at the correct elevation to the pipework. However; the data in the bands also reflect this pipe. Is there a way of getting the band to ignore this data?

Hi @Anonymous ,

is it possible to share a sample DWG that shows your issues and that can be used for finding a solution?

Please also send screenshots that show where to look at in the DWG.

Regards,

Karsten.

Morning

I have attached the drawing and a sample of the long section:

  • You can see that the Pipe crossing is shown in the Profile and on the Band Geometrical Data the data for the pipe is show, Whereas I don't want this information in the band. It maybe because this is a combined sewer and storm network the data is pulling through. If I were to do it as two networks I can't joint the pipes to the final manhole.
  • The pipe size band, you can see a number of fields all showing 150uPVC, ideally I would just be wanting the band only to show 150uPVC along the base and only add another size if there were to be a change in pipe size.

Hi @Anonymous ,

thanks for sharing the sample DWG.

Regarding to the band style, it sounds as if you would like to use a sort of conditional filter. Only if the pipe diameter differs from 150mm it should be displayed in the band, correct?

Unfortunately, that is not possiblen - or I didn't find it in the depths of Civil 3D style settings.
"Expressions" for band labels don't exist.

Regarding to the other labels in the band that exists, but you don't want it displayed, you have already named the reason: It's because you use a "combined" network and all parts of the network are labeled. A conditional label could be a solution again, but as mentioned above it's not possible.
I also thought of using reference text in the label style. The idea is to reference the label to a "not-combined" pipe network (see Autodesk Civil 3D Help: About Referenced Text for Label Styles) . But reference text labels are not supported with pipes, unfortunately.

Maybe other experts in the forum have better ideas?

Regards,

Karsten.

The only other way of doing this is to have created 2 Networks (possible 3 SW, FW, CS), where the networks merge and become a Combined Sewer. Now the next question is, how do you share a manhole from a different network so that you can join the pipes from another network into it.

Hi @Anonymous ,

sharing a manhole between two different pipe networks is not possible.
I suggest to create a "duplicate" of the manhole in order to use it in another pipe network.

Karsten.
