Pipe Networks - Structure Selection

I have a template drawing, in which all new .dwg's are created from. In this template drawing, I was playing around with a pipe network and realized I had to be very precise when selecting a structure in plan view. It would only work when clicking directly on the node of the structure. In a new drawing (Drawing1) in the attached video, which was created from the template, I can select the structure by clicking anywhere on said structure. Any idea why I can't select anywhere on the structure in the template?

I'm assuming the style is displaying a block, I'm wondering if there is some issue with a layer being frozen.

If you can post the drawing I can check it out and let you know if I can replicate the issue.
