can someone help me create pipe network that will reflect the green rectangles (manholes) in my profile as structures? i also want these green rectangles follow the specific profile (invert elevation) i created, meaning that the rim will always be at the top of my finished grade and then the manhole depth will vary depending on my invert profile. in this picture, i already created the blue lines/ pipe network but i just want to reflect the structures every 10m of my station. thanks!

Hi @trumankiko,

If you haven't already created one, you can create a Pipe Network in Civil 3d and add any parts to a profile view, you will however, need to create this first in plan, before adding to a profile.
Create your pipe network first and use your finished ground surface to connect the sructures for finished Cover Levels. Once you have your network in place with the correct structures and pipes, you can add to the profile view. There you can adjust Invert levels by dragging pipes and structures. Or, control these through the Part Properties directly.

I just want the top of green rectangles (manholes) to be inserted at my desired profile (gray profile) while the depth varies according to another profile i created which is my invert (purple profile). thanks a lot!

hi. now my pipes are not showing in plan and profile. only the structures are reflected. do you know the reason for this? i attached my dwg. maybe you can help me. thanks!

For the pipes in plan and profile, if you select one of the pipes in Toolspace, then go to Edit Pipe Style, you just need to turn on the layer in the display & profile tab as shown below:-

terrain surface assigned to the network controls the rims a rule set control the depths/ slopes Or a layout profile can be used

how do i set the control for the depth?

the pipes already follow my desired profile/ invert but the structures in profile is my problem. i have to select each of them in order to change the sump depth to zero. its kind of a hassle. any ideas?

If i add a rule like sump depth to zero... my structure would like like this.. (see attached pic). i still want the pipe to follow the invert profile with structures with zero sum depth. help.

Rules are defined and assigned in the part list. Unfortunately, rules are applied when placed. After the fact you would need third party to adjust global. Note in part list define sump = 0

My suggestion. When rules fail you:
layout the network 

alignment profile from network 

define layout profile 

extract FL fro alignment 

delete parts from network 

create network from FL

merge to original.

this is particularly helpful for revisions

Rules are tricky and too many make for confusion until you get more comfortable with them

help! now i have made the profile view with pipe networks nut when i tried to export the c3d drawing to autocad, civil 3d crashes. what should i do?
