Pipe Network Structure - Model View Height

I have a series of pits and pipes supplied by a Surveyor in SHP files.  If I import pits into Civil 3D 2017 using the Insert->Import -> Import GIS Data workflow the pits have a Rim Elevation and Sump Elevation so the sump is controlled by Elevation (I also have a Depth field in the shapefile I could use)

The data looks ok (i.e giving correct depth and levels), but when viewed in a 3d view, when i measure the pit it isn't the same as the depth between Rim and Sump.

This structure should be about 6m deep.

However, when measturing the distance from bottom to top it is only 1.45m.

Very annoying, especially when trying to coordinate with reconstruction and expansion of a large building.

So it seems that the mapping between Structure Rim to Sump Height from GIS Import to the Structure properties does not work.

All of my GIS data has Rim Elevations, Bottom of pit elevations (Sump Elevation) and Depth as below:

Import GIS Data.JPG

When doing this this is what the Part Properties has the correct Rim Elevation and Sump Elevation, but the Rim to Sump Height is at the default 1.4m when it should be using the Structure Rim to Sump Height value (if I'm understanding the GIS import wizard correctly).

The only way I have found to change the Rim to Sump Height is to manually edit it for each individual pit.  It's not feasible to do it for all 350+ pits I have.

I have tried various combinations of GIS import info.

No Rim elevation results in all elevations being zero.

No sump elevation sets the sump to the default 2m.  Structure Rim to Sump Height seems to do nothing.

Have you tried after importing applying a *useless* rule, to see if the rim to sump height adjusts

or try displaying them all in profile and grip edit the top of all of them and move them up like 0.001 (not super fast but better than editing all the numbers 1 by 1)

or select them all and modify the surface adjustment by a small amount and put it back to 0 afterwards ?

No idea if any will work but it's worth a try 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions, but applying a rule with no rules didn't do anything.

I'm just trying to import pits only, so there is no pipe connected and no profile.

Also, I have no surface. I want to use the raw numbers from the survey.

«I'm just trying to import pits only, so there is no pipe connected and no profile.»

Yeah I know, hoped it would do something to fix the wrong structure rim to profile height

«Also, I have no surface. I want to use the raw numbers from the survey.»

I know aswell, you can still modify the «surface adjustement value» in structure properties. Might reset something to fix things, might not

I'm simply throwing idea in the air hoping one will work ahah
