Pipe Network Issues: Invert and Length

Hi,
I am having two issues with pipe network, do you have a work around ?

  1. Pipe length label is not accounting for the pipe length inside the structure (about 10" is not accounted for).
  2. Pipe Invert Label, is not displaying the invert, is actually displaying the center of the pipe.

Thanks

Hello-

For the first one, it sounds like you may have a Pipe Rule applied to your pipe that sets the pipe length based on the inside wall edges of the connected structures. Sounds like you want a pipe rule that sets the pipe to be at the center of the structure...or remove the pipe rule altogether, disconnect/reconnect the pipe to the structures.

For the 2nd item, you can edit your pipe label style to have label components that are based on the pipe properties you want. For your case, it sounds like the pipe style you’re using has the pipe center specified instead of the invert. Edit your label style by drilling into the pipe label style component editor. There you have access to all sorts of pipe property options.

I hope this helps.

Hi @tonykhoury,

Before I totally get into it, are you talking about a gravity pipe network (sewer, storm) or pressure (water, gas)?

In both cases there are controls to determine length by structure edge or structure center but they are handled marginally differently depending upon the network.

As for the invert, is it the structure invert that's being labelled or the pipe?

I am referring to gravity network and the invert of the pipe.

For the pipe length, Mike was correct about the rule set.  Inside of Pipe Rules you can set the length to read from center-to-center where right now it sounds like it is reading edge-to-edge.

As for the invert, it does sound like your label style is referencing the centerline, not the invert.  If you don't mind, paste a copy of the label component coding here and I can get you a little better direction about what to tweak to get the invert displaying properly.
