Parts Catalog works great in one file, but not in another

Issue: Two files in two different projects have their parts catalog pointing to the same folder. Turkey Run file, Plan-Profile_2018.dwg, only shows 2 parts when trying to swap a part. The Oak Ridge file, PROP SEWER REF.dwg, shows all available parts. All Files were setup in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018. I am helping a coworker troubleshoot these files. The only difference between the two files is that the one that does not work had a LIDAR file attached to it.

I have tried the following fixes:

  1. Restarting PC
  2. restarting AutoCAD
  3. pointing Parts Catalog to our company Standards drive.
  4. I tried to delete the parts list from the Turkey Run project and import parts list from Oak Ridge.
  5. I ran an audit on the file not working (Turkey Run).
  6. Options are set the same for both files.
  7. Ran REF Manager on the files. There was a circular reference showing, but when I investigated, it was not showing anymore.
  8. Suggested that LiDAR XREF be detached and brought in as a data shortcut. He detached the LiDAR XREF, still the same results.
  9. AutoCAD Civil3D 2018 has been completely updated.

Check to see if the same parts list name is the current one in both files.

Hi there,

I thought I had mentioned that, but yes, we checked that the parts catalog was the same in both files.
Both were originally pulling from his C:\drive, and then we tried setting it to the company's Y:\drive as well with the same results.
I tried to change it on my system and his with same results every time: one file worked the other didn't. We even tried to open the files one-at-a-time, same results.

i opened both files, used the the edit Pipe Network command on both files. The CURRENT catalog files were not the same in both files. After I made them the same I got the catalog with more than the two options on both files. I'm using C3D 2019, if it doesn't work sorry.

I have not gotten an answer for this issue.

My coworker seems to be the only one with the issue of parts lists that do not match even though the parts catalogs are pointed in the same place. The files I uploaded may not have reflected this, but that is what is what I see when I look at his system.

When I have this problem with pressure part catalogs I import all styles (Manage tab, Styles, Import) from our known-to-work template dwt. Somehow dwg's become corrupted with regards to parts catalogs and this usually fixes it.

for this one person you might also look at the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R24.0\ACAD-4100:409\Profiles\<<C3D_Imperial>>\Preferences\AeccUiNetwork130. Warning! Edit the registry at your own risk, you could break the machine.

Notice that there are similar entries for every profile used. Which brings me to this - we can use a custom user profile being active to start C3D but invariably run into issues accessing parts catalogs. Have your user start with the OOTB <<C3D_Imperial>> profile (desktop icon, properties) and see if this solves the problem. ALL of my users start with this profile and I use a bootstrap lsp to load certain OPTIONS on start, like network support locations, etc.

I will try this. I had imported styles from the good drawing (Oak Ridge) where the parts catalog had worked, but it did not resolve this. I will get back to you soon I hope. Thank you.

Hi @mhoodLT6NU   As stated in earlier post by @Anonymous  your drawings are not using the same part list. One drawing is using JMT_EX_Sanitary_Parts and the other is using Standard as the part list.  The standard part list has your parts in it. You either need to switch the other drawing to standard or simply edit the JMT_EX_Sanitary_Parts part list and add the parts and sizes to it.

I had uploaded the files I had copied onto my PC, not the coworker's actual files as he was in production mode. I think the settings for network parts were both the same on the coworker's PC, but I will double-check this once more. Thank you.
