Paperspace Dim shows wrong measurement when snapping to a Profile object

So, I feel like I've run into this problem for years now (multiple versions of Civil 3D). I like to keep as many of my manual annotations in paperspace as I can (i.e. labels that aren't Civil 3D generated). This way my modelspace stays clean. Anyway, most of the time, if I am trying to use any DIM command to apply a dimension in paperspace, and I am snapping to a Profile object, it simply will not show the proper dimensions. Instead of showing the dimensions of the geometry in modelspace, it gives me the dimensions in paperspace.

For example, if I snap to two points of a profile that I know to be exactly 15 m apart, and my viewport scale is 1:150, then the dimension will read 100. So the dimension object in paperspace is displaying the 100 mm of paperspace that was measured, instead of the 15 m of modelspace that was measured.

If I use the same dimesion style to measure a simple object like a polyline, then everything works as you would expect, and it displays the correct dimension of the modelspace object, even though my DIM object is in paperspace. It is only when I measure Profile objects that it won't show the modelspace measurement.

What am I missing here?

My guess is that the dimension command/selection doesn't recognize what a profile or profile view is and therefore can't make the correlation from model space units to paperspace units to give the dimension the proper Dim Scale Linear value.

Even if it did, it would probably only work for a horizontal dimension as it wouldn't know what to do with the vertical exaggeration of a profile view with anything other than a horizonal distance.

I use profile view depth labels when working with profiles.
