Panning in Paperspace (Layout) Displays more than the viewport

Our company just upgraded from Civil 3D 2014 to 2016 and I'm trying to figure out if this is a new feature and if I can turn it off.

In my layout tab, i have my title block and I created a viewport (simple rectangular viewport).  The viewport is locked and to a specific scale.  When I am panning around the layout tab (but not in the viewport), occasionally the whole model space drawing will show rather than clipping it at the viewport.  I have to pan away a few times for it to disappear.

I'd rather not have this happen; that's why I have it clipped at the viewport.  Is there a way to turn this off?

I've included some screen shots to try to explain what I'm talking about better.  The red line is the viewport.

It may have something to do with your video card; however, I use an nVidia Quadro 4000 and I still get the occasional messed up display.  Try a preview of the plot and see if it still shows.  I think is is just AutoCAD misbehaving for the screen display but the actual drawing is as you intended.

I also just got a new computer just a few weeks ago.  I know that the system requirements for Civil 3D were sent to the IT company when purchasing the new machines.  I'm not sure what kind of video card is in it, but I would expect it to be a good one.

It doesn't show in the plot preview.

It's very distracting and I was hoping it was a "feature" that I could turn off 🙂

It appears to be on the recommended video card list (as is mine).  It is likely just a screen display problem.  I experience the same.  It is annoying but it does not appear to affect the drawing or plotting.

You can find recommended video cards here:

AutoCAD Certified Hardware

You can click on the link that matches your video card in the list and see the certified drivers.  Try using one of the drivers listed.  Perhaps that will fix the problem.

I've seen this also. But it usually goes away after switching layouts or restarting the program. It would be a good idea to check which video drivers are certified for AutoCAD 2016 and have them installed.

Check your driver.  Mine is version 296.70 and the latest for my card is 375.86

Thanks for this post. I am having the same problems. I did notice that if your first click on a pan is outside of the view ports everything works fine. Its just when you start your pan within a view port area does this happen.
