Page setup manager plot scale units

Hello!

I am having some trouble with changing the default units in the page setup manager window. In this particular DWG file whenever I create layouts the default units are inches which messes up the creation of new layouts from view frame groups. The DWT file containing the desired template is set correctly in mm.

I was unable to find a way to change this default setting.

Please see attached images.

Any help is much appreciated!

There is a Metric version of Civil 3D and an imperial version.  The metric one defaults to mm in the sheet setup and the imperial goes to inches.  It seems like you have a metric unit drawing open in the imperial version of the the software.

I remember seeing something like this but I don't recall what it was. Can you share the drawing?

This DWG file is a sort of Frankenstein's monster. It was composed of multiple DWG files containing highway sections, which were drawn a very long time ago. Most of the original drawings were not set up properly in regards to units and coordinates, I am not sure how things were done back in the day. I was also negligent and didn't double check all of the unit settings (which can be confusing) while putting together the drawing, thus the issue. I am using metric version of Civil 3D (with the Romania country kit), I also made sure that the Civil 3D profile is set to metric (see attached image).

In the options menu, plot and publish tab, some default settings can be changed but the units for the plot scale can't, which I find strange (why would there be a default setting unchangeable?).

I've also tried to mess around with view frame settings, sheet setting, I've changed any default setting from imperial to metric that I could find.

Thank you for your time!

I can't share the original drawing however I cleared everything in the drawing and purged it so that the settings remain. As you will be able to find whenever a new layout is created it defaults to imperial.

If there is anything else I can provide please let me know. I have also explained the situation in greater detail in a previous reply.

Thank you for your time!

It looks like it's because you have set a Paper Size in inches. Change the Paper Size to on using meters and the scale will automatically change.

This only works if you modify one layout at a time. I am trying to create sheets automatically using view frames. In this situation the paper size is in mm (as I set it up in my DWT file, both paper size and plot scale are in mm over there) but the plot scale remains in inches. I could use brute force and change the scale manually one layout at a time but I was looking for a better solution as I am currently at around 170 view frames and it would take some time.

I've tried changing the plotter settings to default to a metric paper size in the hopes that this will also affect the plot scale but it didn't.

I've attached another image showing that the paper size and plot scale default to different measurement systems. This is now happening in both cases (creating a new layout using the new layout button and creating layouts trough view frames).

Thanks!

Maybe THIS or the links at the bottom of the page might help.

This done it, one of the links at the bottom of the page was a wonderful solution for my issue. (How to automatically change the printer in all layouts of an AutoCAD drawing in AutoCAD (autodesk.co...). The article is about changing printers but the lisp actually applies the Page setup manager settings of the current layout to all layouts.

Thanks a lot!
