Hi,
I received a CAD drawing file showing the property boundary.
I would like to overlay a map beneath this drawing. What is best way to do this?
Thank you.
Best regards,

Hi @rimutaka
You can use AutoCAD with geolocation based on ESRI or Microsoft.
More detail at this video:
But, also if you have a raster image, so apply any this options:
Good luck!
If your drawing has a coordinate system assigned and you are signed into your AutoDesk account. You can use the command GEOMAP to load an aerial image. You can then use the command GEOMAPIMAGE to crop the area of the aerial you want to keep, then turn off GEOMAP.

Hi Mike,
When I typed GEOMAP, a message appeared saying “No graphic location defined.” I am not sure whether this drawing has been assigned a coordinate system, but I checked and found that all points have coordinate values (x, y, z).
Is it possible to define a coordinate system based on the existing coordinate points?

Rimutaka
Hi Rimutaka,
"not sure whether this drawing has been assigned a coordinate system"
Here's how to find out:
Use command CGEOCS. If your command line shows 'CGEOCS = "" (read only)', then no coordinate system has been assigned.
Use command MAPSTATUSBAR >> Show. The lower status bar will show whether a coordinate system has been assigned.
Drawing Settings >> Units and Zone will show the assigned coordinate system.

You need to define a coordinate system. In the settings tab of the Prospector, right click on the drawing > edit drawing settings. Add a coordinate system via the Drawing Settings. For example, most of my projects are in the Auckland area so I choose NZGD2000 / Mount Eden Circuit.
