North Arrow missing from Layout Tools tab

Were north arrows and scales removed from 2021?  In paper space with an active viewport, I go to Layout and all I see is this:

In previous version North Arrow and scales were here.  Help menu for 2021 states it's supposed to be here too.  I tried different Workspaces and they all look the same.  Tried different drawings, same.

OK, looked at 2020 and I see I'm looking at the "Layout" tab not the "Layout Tools" tab on 2021 and in pic above.  So I guess the actual question is why am I not seeing the "Layout Tools" tab when I'm in paperspace in 2021 when I have a viewport.  I also logged in remotely to my home PC to see if it did it there and 2021 there isn't showing the "Layout Tools" on a different install either.

Options--> Display --> Check box "Display Layout and Model tabs"

Thanks Bill, but that's already checked.  And I thought that just turns on and off the tabs at the bottom.  Doesn't have anything to do with the ribbon tabs, right?

OK, you mentioned layout tabs but I guess you are speaking of the Ribbon.

The few times I had problems with no-ribbon, I had to un-install and re-install.  I tried several remedies with no help.  Perhaps someone has an easy fix.

Yeah, that's just what AutoDesk calls that ribbon tab, guess it's a little confusing.  Surely two separate installs on two different computers wouldn't have the same issue unless there's a bug.  Is there at least a command I can type to get the North Arrows and Scales to show up?  Nothing is shown of a command in the help menu and when I click on it in 2020 it doesn't seem to use a command when I look at F2.

Doing this from memory, have you tried:

1. Ribbon

2.  RibbonLoad

Type RIBBON  in the command line and look for choices.

Hmmm, I type in RIBBON and nothing seems to happen or at least it doesn't give me any choices.  RIBBONCLOSE will make the ribbon go away, then typing RIBBON opens it back up, that's all that command seems to do.  There isn't a RIBBONLOAD command or anything similar for suggestions when I type RIBBON.

I'll bet I can do something under CUI, but dread even opening that thing up.  That rabbit hole is just a huge time sucker for me, so I just leave it alone usually.  I'm sure if I messed with it more I could figure it out, but who has the time.

Alan,
"Is there at least a command I can type to get the North Arrows and Scales to show up?"
I don't think so. I checked just now in my 2018 and can't find anything for the Command Line.

Yep. Just. Shoot. Me. Now.

Not a solution, but more detailed information, as this issue happened already in previous releases as well.

Just a check, Make sure you are in paperspace or in a layout and see if it pops up.

That's is probably a good thing.

Historically the layout north arrows and scale bars have reeked havoc  with civil3d layouts

Plan production sheets in particular

Thanks, as I said above, paperspace with a viewport on the page.  In 2020 the ribbon tab shows up in the same scenario.  2021 it's not.

That looks like the rabbit hole I was dreading, lol.  Maybe if I get some time later I'll look into the CUI.  Hopefully it hasn't changed much from 2014 to 2021.

Joe, I've used those North Arrows and Scales since 2010 version I think and never had any issues so not sure what havoc I should be expecting, lol.  I can work around it, but just seems odd that is stopped working.  I am on a subscription, so maybe I'll just let them remote in and fix it!

If an "Elite Expert" can't stand CUI, not sure how little ole' me is supposed to figure it out!  Over a decade with this thing, you'd think they'd come up with something a little more user friendly by now.

Great to hear. but if you ever inexplicably loose a viewport, you'll know why

I can stand the CUI. I won't say it's great. But usable. Before that you had to know the language the menus were written in and edit the source files. If I need to make anything but a minor change. I'll research it first. Just clicking around in it often doesn't get you what you want.

I see the "Layout" tab as well, it's the "Layout Tools" tab that's missing and that's where the North Arrow and Scales were.  Why they call them almost the same is odd, but.....

I finally got caught up and will research it some today in the CUI.
