Need to export shapefile with pipe & structure properties (elevation, pipe type, etc.)

My company is needing to make 3 shape files for storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main. Water main just needs location, so elevations don't matter for water, but for storm and sanitary I need to export it with elevations of structure rims and pipe flows. My only idea is to try exporting a gravity pipe network, but I'm not sure if that will give me what I'm looking for. I need property information for the client to be able to use in GIS so they can have a better understanding of what is currently out in the field.

I also need to have data in the properties showing the following information for all pipes:

  • Pipe material type
  • Pipe diameter
  • Structure identity

Hi Sean,
Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
Try ExportToSDF.

I created a document for us to use to do these.  I'm sharing it for you.  SDF is nice but a lot of jurisdictions will only take Shapefiles.  This should help with the process.

Let me know if you have questions, but I am doing training most of the day today.  Thanks.

If you were to consider third party add-ons, DotSoft's C3DTools will export pipes and structures directly to a ShapeFile with total control over the object properties and can also include Map ObjectData and AEC PropertSet data.

Hi @sean_boylanZSLV3, shapefiles are a specific format by ESRI.Do you use this GIS data in ArcGIS? If the answer is "yes", I would like to complement the idea of using MAPEXPORT that @brian.strandberg presented.

You can publish a series of shapes, including .dwg, .rvt or .ifc files (in this last one, use IFCINFRAEXPORTSELECTED) using the ArcGIS for AutoCAD app available in the Autodesk App Store.

Se the how to publish the feature below.
