Multiple Section Views

Hi All,

I'am having issues with my section views. All of the section views are showing correctly except at the T intersection at chainage 0. I would like to show how the new pavement matches to the existing pavement. This only shows correctly when I create a surface from my design corridors. However, as I want to use code set styles I need to use the corridor instead of the surface and this is when it does not show. The only thing that is showing correctly is my existing surface at this point as that was added as a surface. Thanks

The corridor structure from code sets doesn't display properly if the sections sample line doesn't align with the assembly in the corridor. When the sample line cuts a cross the assembly you get each link the sample line crosses. If you think about it, that's what has to happen. If you create your own assemblies where you can control the assignment of codes to all links, points and shapes you might be able to get it looking right. The are a couple of subs that allow control of all code assignments, generic pavement structure and lane super AOR if I remember correctly.

Hi cwr thanks for the reply. I'am actually using the LaneSuperelevationAOR for the pavement but it does not show at the T intersection at chainage 0. Not sure what to do as i need to use code set styles at it shows the critical points along my section views etc.

Have you tried using a section view at chainage 0.1m?

It is hard to tell what the issue is without the drawing or a screenshot, but I assume the corridor is not showing because there is no corridor assembly at the chainage of the section view.  I usually just shift my section view forwards and backwards by 0.1m until I get the view I need.

Yes i have tried that but it doesnt work until i get to where it is perpendicular. The only time the chainage shows correctly at the intersection is when I create a surface and not use the corridor.

That makes sense.  Civil 3D can be fussy when it comes to displaying corridor assembly cross sections.  I had this issue when trying to display cross sections of a cul-de-sac.  I only managed three out of four.

Have you tried increasing the corridor frequency?  Or adding an assembly at chainage 0.0m?  Or extending the alignment just beyond 0.0m and have the corridor overshoot by a small margin?

Thanks I will try these when I get back in and let you know the outcome. Good to know that other people have experienced the same thing. I just find it weird that it works perfectly fine when using a surface. However, that is not an option as I need to use code point styles. Cheers

A surface is just a 3D mesh of triangles, it is a much simpler object.  A corridor is a parade of assembles that run perpendicular to the corridor alignment.  From my knowledge the assembly will only show in a section view if the corridor assembly and section view are perfectly perpendicular and lined up.

Another workaround could be to extract the feature lines from the corridor and project them onto your section view.

Issue was with my alignments. I redid the alignments and now they are showing correctly in my section views. Also had some overlap issues that were corrected as the alignments were not completely touching. Saw this when zooming close to the model.
