Modelling Corridor Transitions with subassembly composer, problem with output parameter in civil 3d

Hi,

I am using Jeff Bartels tutorial to make a subassembly that changes the width of a line in a cross section with the subassembly composer. From this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-f4Ep7TXyE

My problem occurs when I want to change the default value of my output parameter in civil 3d. In Jeff Bartels tutorial it is possible to change that from 0 to 1, see from 6 minutes and 10 seconds in the video. But this isn't possible for me, the value is locked for editing. He says it is important to change it from 0 to 1, because 0 won't represent a valid dimension for the width. 

And if I use the default value 0 in my corridor, the line disappears, since the width automatically is set to 0.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Would be very grateful for any suggestions to my problem.

Not a direct solution, but if you have C3D 2023.2 or newer, then you should consider following this video of his instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLqHPO5eXXA

I am also stuck using something older than that (for now), so I feel your pain if you are too. Lemme know if you are sticking with the older approach, and I can look into it more in the next few days.

I have also seen this video. I was originally thinking that the way transitions were modelled in the video I attached would be more dynamic for changes in the design. 

But maybe the video you sent is the best way to do it. What do you think is the most dynamic way of doing it? Because I know there will be a lot of changes as the project progress (stations, elevations, widths), and I'm looking for the simplest way to make those changes into the model.
