Mapimport object data no coming in

Hello all,

Im using autocad civil 3D 2019, and when I use mapimport, I select the file and add the create object data. When I bring it in, there is no data in the property box. I know there is object data, my co-worker can do the same and get object data. Is there something that change that I don't know about?

Hi Coty,
Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
Looks like you're doing everything right. Let's look at the data. Can you post your shapefile, or maybe a link to where you found it? (To post you'll need to zip the SHP, SHX, DBF, and PRJ files together.)

Coty,
I'm getting OD from your shapefile. I can't think of anything I might be doing that you're not already doing. Same as you, I assigned a UTM83-17F Coordinate System.

Select one of the polylines. What does your Properties Window look like?

OK, try this.
Drag-n-Drop that shapefile into your drawing. Command MAPWSPACE will open the Map Task Pane. Select "MVP_AFC_ATWS" and click the Table. Anything there?

Well color me totally stumped. How about other shapefiles? Is this the only shapefile with a problem?

Looks like all your necessary paths are OK. Dang, I can't think of anything else. I hesitate to recommend, but you might need to do a ReSet, Repair, or Re-install. A ReSet is quick and easy if you don't have any customizations.

Please try again. Follow these 7-steps shown below.

Step 4 is critical. Make sure ALL BOXES ARE CHECKED.

Hello, I have checked that, as shown, I have them selected and still no data. I seen a post on the form where that was the case.

I get this issue when there is an Object Data table already defined in the drawing that has different Data Fields, or in an external reference drawing.

Firstly I would check in the current drawing if the Object Data table has already been defined.

Run the command adedefdata

This will bring up the Define Object Data dialogue.

Click on the Table: drop down and look for the name MVP_AFC_ATWS

If it exists, select it - Click the Delete button at the bottom of the dialogue. (this will delete the Object Data Table Definition)

Try reimporting you shape file

If it is not found, and you have external references attached, open each and run through the same process.

It is a pain when a drawing you attach has the same object data table and you have to go in and delete it. 😞

I hope this helps.

That seem to work. I deleted the table and mapimport and there is data now. Thank you for the help.

Hi,

Can you attach dwg with the old OD?
I want to understand what exactly the reason is.

I can't reproduce your problem.

Hats off to Andrew. But I gotta know, how did that table get into your drawing?

One way to reproduce this issue -

Do a mapimport into a drawing with the object data - make sure the imported objects have the data attached.

Save and close the drawing.

Create a new drawing without and data tables.

Attach the first drawing as an external reference to the new drawing.

Do a mapimport of the same data  as import into the first drawing.

The imported object will not have an object data attached.
