Make s specific Label Style the Default style

Hello,

I have a specific Label Style which is Point# displayed in Yellow, Elevation in Red, and Description in Green. How do I make that the default Label Style so when I start a new Drawing and import new Survey Points that Label Style is already there instead of having to manually change it each time?

In your Template Drawing, in Settings Tab, right-click on Point. Choose "Edit Feature Settings" and select your Label Style.

I would like to add little more to Dave's suggestions.

As you said it is a custom label set. So It may not be in your template.

1. First open your template in a new drawing.

2. In the same time open the drawing which you have the custom label style.

3. Then you should drag and drop the custom label style to the new dwg.

4. Then you can do what Dave's proposed.

5. Finally save this new dwg as a template and use it as the future template. It will contain the default label style.

Neither one of those made it to where when I open a new drawing and import points the colors are already changed to what I want them to be.

What I would like is to be able to start a brand new drawing and it already be set for: the Point# to be yellow, the Elevation to be red, and the Description to be green, The drawing scale to be set at 20, the Text size and style to be set at L60 and the tic size to be set at 0.5

1. Did you make the "PointDump" changes in your Template File?

2.  When you start a new drawing does it load the above template file?

In addition to the above, you can set the default style when the create points command is invoked. Maybe you weren't picking your custom style when you added points?

No, I'm fairly new to AutoCAD. I took a basic AutoCAD class in school so I didn't learn anything advanced.

That only worked for that specific drawing. When I imported new survey points I had to change everything manually.

As the guys above have said, you need to incorporate that style into a template.

Create a new blank drawing and set up the styles you want to have as defaults/available using the settings listed out above.

Then save that drawing as a template (DWT) file. Civil3d will automatically direct you into the default folder to save that template.

Then use the command OPTIONS and point Civil3d to your template for QNEW as per my pic.

Each new document will then open your template, and then if you've set up your default style correctly, and linked it to the CreatePoints command as I outlined above, then your new imported points will automatically be the style you selected.
