Loading large tif files (4-5GB) from drone flight data

When loading large tiff files from my drone data (Drone deploy and Datamapper), I receive the following error, any help would be greatly appreciated!

The error also says only v7 and v8 files can be inserted.

What happens if you run the _MAPIINSERT command instead..?

I think the V7 & V8 message usually refers to Microstation versions. Is the file extension actually .tif?

It's hard to diagnose something like this without the files. Are any small enough to post? Include any world or other position file that are associated with the image.

Can you open the Tiff in any other software, raster editor or GIS?

Thank you for the follow-up.

The file is able to be opened in a viewer, I'm using Geoviewer but oddly enough the photo is in grayscale. I'm unable to attach the tfw file as I get an error saying that extension isn't allowed so I've pasted it below. Perhaps this is the issue?

Martin,

You can post any file here if you zip it. But your World File looks OK. Lines 1 & 4 are scale, and 5 & 6 are the insertion point coords.

As for those huge Tiffs, you can Clip a Raster in QGIS into tiles:

Perhaps the size is my issue; I brought in a much smaller file (100Mb) from the same software (datamapper) and it worked a-ok.

Is there anywhere to adjust the maximum file size in Acad or will I simply have to cut and splice?

Kelsey,

Can you tile your data in DataMapper?

In Civil 3D you can create a Data Clip Boundary before bringing in the data, but the downside there is you have to know exactly where you want your clipped boundary AND there is no coordinate transformation possible.

Another way is to use the _CREATEPOINTCLOUD command. Downside is that your high-rez data will get decimated badly.
