Line table

Hi friends, I am trying to set up my line tables like my client wants them so I don't have to explode to make changes. For record measurements he wants parenthesis around all information. I have successfully put parenthesis around the bearing and distance however the line number is being stubborn. All I did on bearing and distance was put parenthesis at each end of the program in the table style editor. I do the same thing for the line number and nothing happens.

Hi @ESchomberg  Instead of putting the parenthesis in the table style, edit the line label style and put them in the table tag component.

Ok, that works as far as getting it in the line table, however he would not want parenthesis on the line tags themselves so I would have to explode the tags and erase all the parenthesis

Also when comparing record bearing and distances to measured bearing and distances he wants them stacked on top of each other. Such as L1 S45°22'22" E  25.00' ON THE FIRST ROW and on row 2 it would read (L1) (S45°20'15"E) (24.98')..I can't figure out how to stack it like this but he does it with Carlson software.

Eric,

If you don't want the (L1) then just go to the label style, and make the changes to the style on the layout tab.

Note: Stop exploding stuff, you just make it more difficult on yourself by doing that make the change to the style and it changes for all the labels of that style.

Yes sir, tried that. It brings in parenthesis fine. The problem is that he wants them around the (L1) inside of the line table, but he does not want (l1) on the lines themselves. He wants L2 on the line and (L2) inside the line table.

Just saying that sounds a little ridiculous, cuz now the drawing and the table don't match.

But hey if the guys paying you by the hour to sit there explode stuff just to remove the parenthesis in one place then hey more power too him.. Its all about automation, and ease of editing later if the line changes for some unforeseen reason.

Eric,

Talk to him explain that when you label the line and convert it to a tag, that same text and label are used to propagate the table with the correct data so what ever is show in the drawing need to be in the table. I don't know what else to say, at some point the guy signing needs to understand that its just completely unnecessary work.

Yes sir, I created a side by side table. Record bearing and distance with measured bearing and distance next to it. No parenthesis around the line number. I took a picture of it and he accepted it. He is just particular about his drawings
