line label background mask not printing

Hey guys, I have a line label set up with a background mask on, but it does not seem to be working when printed. While on screen everything looks OK, when I print to pdf, the line which should be behind it, is in front of it. Playing with Display Order did not help. I print using AutoCAD's default "DWG to pdf". Then I tried Adobe PDF printer and voila, it worked. Would anyone have a suggestion, how to fix the "DWG to pdf" ? It's not a big deal, I could keep using the Adobe, but I'm just curious ... Thanks.

It could be the Merge Control option setting for the DWG to PDF plotter setup.

Make sure your viewport is "Shade Plot: As Displayed" in Properties.

Our problem is our drawings are set up for Lines Merge. None of the c3d label masks work (except for contour labels) but regular text and dimensions masks work perfectly. Seems like it should be a simple fix but it's been an issue since the beginning of c3d.
