Hello,

Can youcheck your CUI settings?

Type CUI and go to the ACAD partial customization menu. Expand Ribbon down to Contextual Tab states and verify the following for Layout Tools:

Have you tried switching the workspace and then reloading the Civil workspace?

I have a writeup on how to remove this contextual tab. Maybe yours has been removed?

Check this out and see if your contextual tab state for Layout Tools contains an entry or if it's been removed.

In other words, do the opposite of this tutorial.

If your ACAD folder is not there in the screenshot I added, it means the acad.cuix menu file is not loaded. You can right click on the Prrtial Customization Files folder up above it and load in the acad.cuix. It should be located in:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2015\enu\Support

This is going to cause problems because acad.cuix is not meant to be a partial customization file. It contains workspaces. They should be ignored but you will get a million tabs added to your ribbon.

Also, you may have to add the Layout Tools ribbon tab to the contextual state folder by dragging and dropping in the CUI editor.

Bottom line is it is a pain. Looks like your AutoCAD profile got whacked or you logged in as a second user on the same machine and the secondary installer did a lousy job of buiding your profile. Or, you might have menuloaded the c3d.cuix and blew everything else away. Tough to say but it's certainly not looking like a standard out-of-the-box profile/workspace.

Just wanted to add that you can quickly get to this path by pasting in the following, and this works in any Windows profile without having to know the users name.

%appdata%\Autodesk\C3D 2015\enu\Support

I did change the path to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2015\enu\Support

but the LAYOUT TOOLS tab still is not showing (appearing when I go to my paper space)

Hi,

I have the same problem with Civil3D 2015.

I have tried what you suggested, there is nothing under Layout Tools in ACAD-Partial Customization-Contextual Tabs.

What am I doing wrong?

I am also having this problem (ACAD 2016) and I still haven't found a solution after combing through the boards.

Anyone have an update on this issue?

Let's break this down.

1. The "Contextual Layout Tools" tab has to be defined, somewhere, in some loaded menu.

2. This tab must be set up as a actual contextual tab.

  • In stock, OOTB Civil 3D 2016, run the CUI command.
  • In the upper left pane, navigate down to "Partial Customization Files" > ACAD > Ribbon > Contextual Tab States
  • In here, look for "Layout Tools" (these items are NOT in alphabetical order).
  • Is there a [+] or [-] sign next to Layout Tools?
  • If it's a [+] sign, click it.
  • Now you should be looking at this:
  • layout11.png
  • If you do not have anything under "Layout Tools" or you don't even have a "Layout Tools", then there is your problem - and in that case, read this and follow the instructions.

Post back if that does not help and specify exactly where you got lost or something doesn't match.

Hi,

Thanks for the explanation.

My issue is that I do not have the [+] sign next to the Layout Tools item.

I have read the attached link as well.

I have tried two things:

- restoring the CIVIL (c3d.cuix) which did not help and there is no RESET option available for this one

- reseting the ACAD.cuix which did not help either

Civil 3D 2015, not OOTB.

I am also in the same boat. I recreated the ACAD Ribbon tab LAYOUT ELEMENTS, panel, Contextual Layout Tools panel(with Full with Focus and Key tip LT), but I'm stuck where I have to add the 'Layout tools' tab it has the 3 drop down buttons ( Legend, North arrow, Scale bar)

http://autodesk.i.lithium.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/148976iD8788EB60BD144A0/image-size/origin...

Their commands (which I cannot find) are: AcMapRibbonLegendButton, AcMapRibbonNorthArrowButton, AcMapRibbonScaleBarButton.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? I've read through and implemented all the suggestions, none of which have fixed the problem. The last couple posts have been other users stating as much.

There is a LAYOUT toolbar that you might have to turn on until you get this fixed.

Bill

Just right click any ACAD toolbar and select it from the list.

As a workaround for this highly annoying problem, the command line command still seems to be working so long as you are in paperspace. The command to make a legend is MAPCREATELEGEND . I still cant get the Layout Tools tab to show up no matter how I fiddle with the CUI, but the command still works, go figure.
