Layout Profile Editing

Hi Guys, Am working on a drawing to be delivered to the client urgently. The Layout Profile is a overlay on the existing road and hence has lot many curves (Crest & Valley) and has to be a specified thickness (100mm) above the existing profile.

Editing the same to the said requirements is time consuming cause for each small change computer takes at least 15 seconds to regenerate the drawing and ready to receive the next command.

I am using OS Windows 8.1, 64 bits, RAM 8GB.

Is there any way to reduce the time of editing?

Can it be like i change the profile type as a static in the profile properties window and then do all editing. Once done change back to Dynamic. Will it help? Will all changes will take effects in changing dependent parameters (like level values in the bands below)

I think i was wrong, there is no such options in the profile properties window as "Dynamic". Then what is the way out?

please help it taking hell lot of time to edit the Layout profile.

Hi nglatne,

I had a similar problem with my project, i had to change a few elevations on my layout profile and each change was a 5 min lost of my time waiting.

What i did to minimize this delay was: Increased my corridor frequency to 100 (tangents, curves and spirals), disabled the "rebuild corridor automaticaly" option, freezed all the existing elements of my project and only then i started to change my profile.

Hope this helps.

You say layout profile but then speak of changing from dynamic to static. Sounds like a surface profile to me.

firs turn off auto rebuild of surfaces and corridors. Now set eg profile static, raise the required amount. Create a layout profile and trace the raised eg “best fit” ... I wouldn’t follow every tiny up and down in the tin: make a nice profile. Reset eg back to dynamic, assign your new layout profile to the corridor and rebuild

Actually there is an option the set a surface profile from dynamic to static and back again.

Your English is fine. ...Now mine? Yikes. not so good at times

I was wrong i mentioning the "Dynamic" property for Layout profile. What i am talking @ is Layout profile and not Surface profile.

Dear Friend,

You can run a temporary corridor with an assembly such as overlay mill and level 2 using the current existing ground surface. Then use the surface profile option to get it in to the profile view. It would be a much smoother surface than the existing ground.

Then you can manually create the design profile to match that surface profile of the temporary corridor. Or else you can use create best fit profile option by surface profile.

Thanks
