Labels with 'Rounded Rectangular' borders not plotting correctly

My firm uses Named Plot Styles for plotting, which I really like, but I am having an issue with Labels that are set to have the "Rounded Rectangular" borders. Specifically, the rounded corner parts of these labels are getting the "Normal" plot style, whereas the straight line parts of these labels are getting the Plot Style from the layer of the label. This means that the straight line parts of the borders are plotting correctly, but the rounded corners are plotting with a different lineweight and using the object color. Please see the attached screenshots for specifically what I mean.

I can't figure out why the arcs would be getting the "Normal" plot style when everything else is correctly going ByLayer and plotting in black. I can't find anything at all in the Label settings that specifies different settings to be used for the straight parts vs. the corners. When I EXPLODE the labels, the straight parts are normal Lines, and the corners are just Arcs, not some kind of block. I have all available lineweight and linetype settings as ByLayer for the labels.

I am using Civil 3D 2016 with all current patches, Windows 10 64-bit. AMD Firepro W5000 graphics card. This really doesn't strike me as something outside Civil 3D though.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. I am reposting this from my main account; disregard earlier post with same title.

Had you any luck figuring this one out?

I haven't been able to reproduce this error.

It is a bug, but easy to fix.  Set the container layer to black and it will plot okay.  In other words, if it is pipes and the pipe network is on C-Pipes, but the callout is on C-Pipe-Callouts , set both to black.  For some reason rounded corners and a couple of other things don't go to the right layer.  Same for surfaces etc.

Hope that helps,

I have to say, I do not use the provided templates.

Because of this issue, I have now decided to have "container layers" that hold the root objects, with everything else sent to other layers.  It does work.

I guess I should have reported this bug, but I think I am shunned.  I have reported a few too many problems.  If I have a work around, sometimes I just ignore it.

Another issue has been "markers"  and leaders by Xref.  Haven't worked for years, never complained because I had a work around.  If memory serves, this has never worked.  I suppose it needs to be reported if we want a solution.

Thanks,

If reporting lots of issues were to get anyone shunned, I think I would definitely be among them.

I'm sure @peterfunkautodesk would agree that I don't keep quiet.  /:-0

And I seriously doubt you've been shunned by anyone.  They want to know about the problems -- if they don't KNOW about them, they can't FIX them.

I was kidding. 🙂 Had one get escalated today.  Just seems like the last year or so has been pretty bad.  Two bad service packs in a row.

It does take time and so SOMETIMES i don't bother if a I have workaround that doesn't involve a lot of time.

Thanks,

I agree it takes time to submit these requests -- otherwise people will have idea what you're trying to ask for.

But I for one prefer not to let having a workaround prevent me from submitting a suggested fix.  I liken a workaround to providing first aid for someone who is seriously injured.  Sure the issue is resolved TEMPORARILY but the docs at the hospital will have to provide the real fix.  In this case the workaround is the temporary fix and the devs at Autodesk need to provide a real fix to the issue.

I may not submit a suggestion immediately after realizing the issue but I do so at my first opportunity.

This works to some extent. The trouble with just setting to Black is that it then gets the Default lineweight, which is different from the lineweight I wanted for these borders. It's definitely better than having them be the wrong color though.
