Hi,
I have a large dataset (points) representing water fittings They are all layered according to type (valves, meters, bends tees etc.).
I just need to label them to say "Tee" or "bend" etc. This will just be a reference drawing to serve as a backdrop together with the cadastral.
I have managed to create circles around the points to make them more visible with the help of a Lisp from Autodesk I found somewhere.
How do label these circles or points:

if you can filter them in groups (by selection or description or any other method) you could always override the label for each group to label whatever you want 🙂
I'm going to make some assumptions here the biggest one being that your data set is a PNEZD point file so that you have raw descriptions like WM, WV, T, etc... for the various points. If that is the case, this will be a very simple task.
First create a Point Style for each of your elements (i.e. WM WV T etc...), this could be your circle or any other symbol you would like to use for the particular element. Also, create a Point Label Style that is description only.
Create a Description Key for each element based on the raw description as shown below, you then add the Point Style, Label Style and Layer you would like them to reside on.
Then go to the _All Points Group and right-click and select Apply Description Keys.
Everything will be labeled and have the symbol you selected.
