Labeling bearing and distance

I'm trying to create a label style that labels the line reading Bearing then Distance no matter the direction. Anyone have any luck with this?

If you mean that instead of N 83d 10' 03" E, you want to see 83d 10' 03" NE, then no I don't think there is a way.

If that's not what you're looking for, then please elaborate.

Hello @Anonymous. Welcome to the forum. Can you give an example of what you want and what you have tried so far. Bearing and distance is quite doable. So I'm thinking you need something more specific.

For some reason, when I first read your message, i thought you asked about "Bearing and DIRECTION".  Which is why I was confused -- direction is part of the bearing.

I would like to have it read S04°13'00"W  48.31 (arrow) if going left to right and (arrow) S04°13'00"W  48.31 if going right to left. I hope this makes sense. when reading the bearing and distance we like for it to read bearing and distance then the arrow. I figured out how to make this work with the arrow above all this but trying to see if I can keep it all on one line.

I think you'd need 2 Label Styles to do that and choose the correct one for the situation yourself. Unless someone can figure out how to do it with an expression.

I'm sorry but that really confused the heck out of me, considering when you lable a line in the southwest quadrant and you want the bearing (line) reading from left to right you would be going in the Northeast quadrant. If you need it to read in that direction. Select the label and right-click and select REVERSE, and the label will change quadrant (This will also change the arrow)  If your doing a legal description along a common line of two parcels in a clockwise direction label the line twice, once for each direction.

Sorry for any confusion. I just figured it out. This is what I was looking for. Basically when you read a deed its normally the bearing first then the distance. That is how i was wanting the line to be labeled. With the arrow up front. Keeping this idea no matter how you reverse or flip it. Thanks for your comments! I'll be back with more questions I'm sure.

May I ask what the key was? It could help others looking to do the same.
