I don't follow what it is that you are trying to accomplish. LAYISO is a command that can be used to isolate layers, to isolate objects in a particular area I'm not sure that is possible.

I'm looking from my mobile so I can't see which attachments is first or second.

You can isolate by layer and selected objects.
In the one image with buildings and an area surrounding by a rectangle... are you wanting to clip that or only show part of that

Hello Joe,

Thanks for your reply .

the first JPG is the second attachment and the second JPEG is the first attachment . Trying to isolate the layers only in the rectangular box without isolating the whole drawing.

Also, there's an attachment below that give me the steps on how to do it but it's not working.

thanks .

If I understand correctly you want to isolate poly line contour layer so you can add them to a surface definition . The layer isolate is probably working but autodesk in there infinite wisdom ships the product with certain variables set that do not fade the other layers when you isolate. I don't have those settings at my fingertips but we will work around that.

Grip a red contour and a yellow contour , right click an. Choose select similar, right click again and select isolate objects this should completely isolate the contours.

If not, the selection set is made and they can still be added to the surface. Do the select similar- now got to the surface to add contour data and when prompted to select type "last" with out the quotes
