Is there a way to assign layers to certain codes?

Due to my mechanical background, I am new to survey equipment and importing survey data into AutoCAD, and I would like to know if I can create settings to set specific layers for each code. For example, when surveying the road cross-section, we use codes like ES, EP, CL, EP, and ES. Can each code have a specific layer in AutoCAD so all the linework can be imported into particular colors?

 

This would help save a lot of time when setting up these survey files. Thanks to anyone who can help!

The answer is yes. Look into Desckeys in the help system.

If you have the codes set up to draw linework on import using a Figure Prefix Database, you can set the layer for each code in the table:

Yes, once you create a Figure Prefix Database and save it you can use it for each DWG.

On the Survey tab of Toolspace click on the "Survey User Settings button and set it in the Figure Defaults:
