invalid point for adding new part in profile

I am trying to add a vertical bend to a pressure pipe run in Civil 3d 2021.  I created a pressure pipe profile and profile view, but when I select "Add Bend", it doesn't allow me to insert a bend and gives me the message, "invalid point for adding new part in profile".  Any suggestions?

Thank you for this suggestion and the link to the Autodesk Knowledge Base. I have tried using these instructions many times to no avail. If I try to Add Bend/PVI in the profile view from the Pressure Network Plan Layout tab (as it says in the instructions), it adds a bend to the horizontal pipe run (e.g. it basically creates a pipe from the street to the profile view and back.)  I can add a Bend/PVI to the horizontal alignment close to where I want it in the profile, but I can't seem to flip the bend from counterclockwise to counterclock.  The illustrations in the Knowledge Base seem to show that I should be able to add a bend to the profile.  I do have an "Add Bend" in the "Pressure Network Plan Layout tab", but when I use that I get the, "Invalid point for adding new part in profile" message.  Very frustrating.
