Intersection Wizard and curb return profiles update

I create an intersection using the Wizard based on two connecting design profiles. If I edit the profiles after the fact do the curb return alignment design profiles update to follow? After editing the intersection elevations this ( see pic) is the result of the curb-return profile. The profile even looped back on itself

From my search on the topic in here I think I can conclude that curb return profiles have to be manually edited after any intersection elevation changes. Also PVI curves need to be added for truly smooth return?

I have given up on the Intersection wizard. Far too often it messes up the intersections (bad targeting, invalid curb profiles, etc.) Connected alignments seem to work better and you have more control over what it does. It is a lot more work to create the intersections though. Choose your poison.

Thanks Neil. I have spent a lot of time over the last month working with the IW and figuring out how it works. It's actually great WHEN it works and what corridor grip does what AND you don't plan on editing vertical afterwards. I done both auto and manual as you state however neither one will update the curb return alignment profiles if any vertical edits of the design profile are made. After testing I have found it's important to make sure Extend Profile along Incoming & Outgoing Lane value of min 25' makes a difference.

I was working with connected alignments last night and the curb return profiles updated nicely.

Let me see if I understand this. You did offset alignments using Offset profile and cross slopes. Then you made connecting alignments with profiles, then any editing of vertical and the connecting alignments profiles followed vertical?

That is correct. The Connected Alignments update the curb profiles if the offset profiles change. You can also created Connected Alignments without having to create offset alignments. The tool allows you to specify the distance and cross slope from the parent alignments for both ends of the curb returns.

I think that the connected alignment profile is a feature that is still in development. The connected alignment profile will update dynamically as described by @Neilw_05 but I've never been able to get the connected profile to form a curve.

The best I've been able to create is a straight line that joins the two offset alignment profiles. There is no way of changing the curve value once the profile is created and changing the profile to static will cause it to disappear when I next open the drawing.

I also get the strange overlapping issue if I try and grip edit my profile.  So in just leave the profile be.

Reading your post got me thinking. Why not make a design profile on top of "connected-alignment-profile" then use that as a vertical baseline? I understand any alignment edits will not update a design profile but you could always do that after the fact in the profile view. I'm going to try this
