I don't have a problem or issue, I just noticed something interesting, and wonder if anyone knows why this is.
I typed N by mistake on the command line, when I meant to type M to bring up the MOVE command. The auto-complete entered NUMBER on the command line, so I hit F1 for the help file, and the help dialog box showed me the page for QSELECT.
Sure enough, hitting enter to accept the NUMBER command brought up the QSELECT dialog box. Does anyone know why this is? Is NUMBER a legacy command that used to do something else?

I just did NUMBER in a blank DWG and a box told me "Quick Select - No Objects Found"
Is NUMBER supposed to count the number of total objects in a dwg?

Thirty-some years of AutoCAD, I've never heard of the NUMBER command.
The only advantage I see is that you can get to it typing N, while you have to use QS to get to QSelect. Although...QS is left-handed; you don't have to take your right hand off the mouse or take your typing hand out of its comfort zone, stretching for an N. Someone call a meeting so we can decide which is better. 😉

Surely we will not have to go into Executive Session.

Same here - I've been doing this since the early 90's, and I've never heard of the NUMBER command.

With Dynmode turned on, typing n brings up ncopy for me, which I use all the time.
Right below that is the command in question, Number, which also says (Qselect).
So apparently the commands are one and the same...
