Infrastructure Parts Editor for Piping - Documentation and examples

Hello every body

I am working to build a catalog of my product (Pipes, fittings and valves in Ductile Iron) in Civil. I use inventor and Infrastructure Parts Editor (IPE) for piping to publish in Civil 3D. May be, I missed something to configure my parts in IPE because when I publish on Civil 3D, the catalogs remain Empty(nofiles dwg and sql).

A detailed documentation exists for IPE or someone can give me an example which works?

Thank you

Christophe

Hi @AnachrisRio,

Last I recall, the Pipes domain of Infrastructure Parts Editor does not push to Civil 3D Catalogs - only the Structure Domain does, thus it's not possible. The Pipes Domain will go to InfraWorks though.

If you are trying to model parts for Pressure Pipes, Infrastructure Parts Editor is not the place for that. Confusing, I agree, but Pressure Pipes uses a different part modeling approach.

Thank you for the answer.

There is no problem to export to Civil3D as the image is showing.

Cordially

Ok- well perhaps they changed it since I had last studied it and presented on it. I assume you’re publishing Pressure Pipe Catalogs? Or are you publishing Pipe Catalogs?

regarding the publishing, because you’re using inventor files, there is no DWG file that would go into the catalog. The xml files published have GUID mappings to a content folder that houses the inventor files. Those are used in for the parts. Let me find the directory to the content folder for you…

See page 8 on this AU handout. It’s a shared content folder where the models publish to
