Incremental Surface Volume Report

Is there some way to get an incremental volume report showing the volumes between elevations? Rather than a report that just gives me the total cut and fill, I would like to see a report that breaks it down according to elevations. Like

Between elevation 1 and elevation 2 there are so many cubic yards of fill

Between elevation 2 and elevation 3 there is X amount of fill and so on.

I've been looking for hours and the closest thing I can find is stage storage used for pond volumes. That might work for the parts of my pile that are not bounded horizontally by the base surface, but there has to be a better way. In other software its as easy as toggling on an incremental option and specifying the interval.

Any help is much appreciated.

Was there ever a solution given for this? I am in need of the same thing, being asked for cut & fill areas and volumes between 1' elevations for a stream /floodplain project.

Hi @chapmanm

You can sort of achieve this by creating a Volume Surface and then analyzing the elevation in between. This will analyze surface difference elevations (space between the surfaces) rather than contour elevations difference. I kept it simple in the Screencast below by using 3 ranges, but you can choose a 1 foot increment elevation as you need! You can then create a Civil 3D Table to report the Volume.
Hope this helps,

If you were to consider third party add-ons, DotSoft's C3DTools contains an Incremental Volumes tool that calculates horizontal slice volumes at multiple specified elevations on a surface.  Request the 45-day full working evaluation and give it a try to see how it works.

Thank you sir! Yeah, I've gotten to that point with a total volume at the elevation band just need to break it out to cut & fill volumes.

This is what I'm trying to accomplish! Thanks for the link, I will give it a try.
