Hello, this is my problem, When I'M trying to import a csv point file in a specific points group these points don't go there, instead of that they go to the "all points" group.  How could I solve it ? Thanks

I would expect them to appear in both the point group you put them in and the all points group.  Are they not going doing this?

You'll have to be specific about how you are doing the import. The fact that you are getting the points showing up in the All points group indicates that there isn't an issue with the data itself.

Try just adding the points to the appropriate points group after the import by right-clicking the points group in prospector, properties, 'Include' tab. then manually select the points.

If the points still won't go then you really have got something funky going on - try posting your drawing and data file so someone can have a look

Cheers

I did it and it didn't work either. I've tried almost everything. Even I've
re installed the whole program.

Hi @Anonymous, which version of C3D are you working with?

If you share the point file and file format, I can test in my end.

but in the meantime, I am assuming you used something alone these steps:

Hope this will help!

If you are importing from "Points from File" you have the choice to create a point group and put the points from that file into a point group. See attached.

I'm using the "import point from file" window, and I select a point group that I've created previously. Any way, It doesn't work if I create the point group using the very "import point from file" window neither. But I could add the points into the group from the all points group using the point group properties window as you showed it to me. Thanks.

First of all you should separate the points into multiple files group after that you can upload these files one by one in separate groups by using the option "Add Points to Point Group" or you can see the complete procedure in this video: Import Points in to Civil 3D or you can use the method of @autoMick

I suspect in 3-4 years you've figured something out.

I was having this issue today, I've narrowed it down to excess digits in my point (1st column) data.

It seems I can name a point with 9 digits but not 10 and that will add my points to the point group
