Hi, I'm using 3DS Max and Civil3D to create a 3D BIM model and am unfortunately having an issue importing from 3DS Max in to Civil3D. I've modeled an object in Max, checked that there are no over-lapping verts, capped any open borders and checked there are no N-gons. I changed the model to a Body Object and then exported as an .SAT file with no issues.
My issue is that when I import the model in to Civil3D not all of the objects come in as Solid. Parts of the model come in broken up as multiple surfaces, what's more, in Wireframe mode these surfaces have multiple edges that stretch beyond what was modelled in 3DS Max - see image attached.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea what causes parts of 3DS Max models to import as surfaces and not solids. I'm struggling to find a pattern, sometimes parts of a model that have been copied/mirrored have errors on one half, but not on the copied half. These surfaces also seems to "merge" objects, so that pieces that were separate in Max are joined in Civil.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
