Importing hardcopy cross sections on a PDF

Hello,

Does anyone have experience computing cross sections from an outside PDF imported into Civil 3D that can calculate excavation quantities?  The attached pdf is an example that shows a scale factor of 10 (1"=100' Horizontal & 1"=10' Vertical).  Is there a way you can digitize the existing grade and excavation elevations and calculate volumes on this 10:1 scale?  I have AutoCAD Civil 2013 by the way.

No automated way that I'm aware of. There are other programs designed for just this type of thing (like Agtech). In AutoCAD you would import, digitize, and manually average end area it.
